Hutchinson CC Sports Information

Hutchinson Community College running back Dezmon Jackson picked up his third-straight Jayhawk Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week award on Tuesday. His teammate, linebacker Monty Montgomery, earned his second-straight KJCCC Defensive Player of the Week honor.

The Blue Dragon duo earned their respective awards in a dominating No. 4 Hutchinson 45-7 win at Dodge City on Saturday.

The Blue Dragons now have 11 different Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week awards this season, four by Jackson (3 offensive, 1 on special teams).

Jackson, a 6-foot, 2019-pound sophomore from El Dorado, Arkansas, had his fourth-straight 100-yard game and his sixth-straight game with at least one touchdown in the victory over Dodge City.

Jackson rushed for 157 yards on 17 carries with touchdown runs of 81 and 24 yards. Jackson now has five touchdowns of 50 or more yards this season.

While Jackson continued to roll offensively, Montgomery's efforts were momentum-swinging type plays, with one coming in each half.

Montgomery, a 5-11, 2-18-pound freshman from Grayson, Georgia, scored two defensive touchdowns against Dodge City.

Montgomery first stripped a Dodge City back of the ball, literally taking the right out of the player's hands and returning it 20 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter. Montgomery then had a 25-yard interception return for a score early in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Montgomery now has three defensive touchdowns in the last two games.
