Hutchinson CC Sports Information

Two weeks ago, the Hutchinson Community College men's cross country team won its third race in a row and fell five spots in the national rankings.

Last Saturday, the Dragons finished second at Fort Hays State and moved up two spots in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NJCAA Division I rankings, which were released on Wednesday.

The Blue Dragons are now No. 8 in the third rankings of the season. Hutchinson is the fourth highest ranked Jayhawk Conference team.

Hutchinson has three team championships and a runner-up finish on its regular-season resume in 2018. The next race for the Blue Dragons will be the ultra-tough Region VI Championships on Saturday, October 27 in Winfield.

Central Arizona is the No. 1 team in the nation, followed by Iowa Central, El Paso and Southern Idaho.

Teams five through 8 are Jayhawk Conference teams – No. 5 Cloud County, No. 6 Allen, No. 7 Colby and No. 8 Hutchinson. Cowley is No. 16.

Colby is the only team to defeat Hutchinson in a team race this season, edging the Blue Dragons by two points at Fort Hays State last week. The Dragons are 2-0 against Cloud County in two head-to-head encounters this season.
