Hutchinson CC Sports Information

Sunday's overtime loss at No. 2 Seward County didn't do too much damage to the Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team in the NJCAA Rankings.

The 28-2 Blue Dragons slipped to spots to No. 8 in the latest rankings released on Tuesday. The only losses the Blue Dragons have suffered this season have been to Seward County, ranked No. 6 and No. 2, respectively, at the times the teams met.

The Saints, which remained No. 2 this week, and Hutchinson are the only Jayhawk Conference teams ranked this week. Jayhawk East champion Butler fell completely out of the rankings.

The Blue Dragons have now been ranked in 20 consecutive rankings and in 121 of the last 126 rankings periods.

Hutchinson opens the Region VI Tournament as the No. 3 overall seed and will play Allen at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday in the opening round.

For the third-straight week, Wabash Valley is the No. 1 team in the country at 25-0. The Top 5 as Wabash Valley, Seward County, South Plains, Trinity Valley and Gulf Coast State.
