Hutchinson CC Sports Information
The Hutchinson Community College women's soccer team is set to play its final regular-season home game on Wednesday. But if things fall right, it might not be the last home game this season for the Blue Dragons.
While some help from others is needed, the first thing that must be done is the 11-2-1 Blue Dragons closing out the home schedule with a victory Wednesday over the 6-9 Pratt Beavers in a 6 p.m. contest at the Salthawk Sports Complex.
After Wednesday's game, the Blue Dragons' five sophomores will be recognized.
Barton has the inside track to the Jayhawk West title at 11-0-1 (34 points). Cloud County is second at 11-1 (33 points) and Hutchinson is third at 9-2-1 (28 points).
In order for the Blue Dragons to earn a first-round Region VI Tournament home game on Thursday, October 25, the Dragons must win out with wins over Pratt and at Cloud County on Saturday. The Thunderbirds must lose at Barton Wednesday and to the Blue Dragons on Saturday.
The Blue Dragons enter Wednesday's matchup against Pratt on a three-game winning streak with three-straight shutouts. Pratt defeated Northwest Tech 3-0 on Monday to set a school-record six wins in a season. That was reached in former Blue Dragon All-Conference player Ashley Burnett's second season as the Beavers' head coach.
Taylor, who was named the Jayhawk Conference Goalkeeper of the Week on Tuesday, is 10-2-1 with eight shutouts and a 0.83 goals-against average. Camp has .761 save percentage.
Pratt is led by Quemberli Merida, who has eight goals and 18 points. Haven Johannsen is 5-6 in net for the Beavers with a 1.40 goals-against average and an .875 save percentage.
Hutchinson defeated Pratt 2-0 on September 22 at Pratt.
