Set 1: Trailing 6-5 early, a Thorne kill snapped a 3-0 Pratt run and parked a 7-2 Dragon stretch. Espejo had four kills in the run and Hutch lead 12-8. Leading 16-14, an Elstun kill and double block by Thorne and Armbrust along with a Pratt attack error helped the Dragons build a 19-13 lead. At 21-16, Espejo had a kill and ace, Elstun hammered a kill and Hiebert finished off the 4-0 set-ending run with a kill. Espejo had six and Elstun had four of Hutchinson's 17 kills in the opening set.
Set 2: Back-to-back Robertson aces capped an initial 10-3 Blue Dragon run to open the second set. Hutchinson failed to side out only twice in eight opportunities. Armbrust terminated on a Pratt overpass to make it 15-5. Hiebert converted a kill for a 20-5 lead. Espejo had a kill and ace to make it 23-6. Elstun closed the set with a kill. The Dragons had 12 kills and six ace serves in the second set, holding Pratt to just four kills. The eight points allowed in the second set was a season-low for Hutch and it's only the second time this season to hold a team to single-digits in a set. The previous low was nine against Dodge City on August. 30.
Set 3: Unlike the first two sets, the Blue Dragons weren't able to pull away as the Beavers had their best offensive set of the match with 13 kills, four ace serves and two blocks. A Thorne kill gave Hutch a 7-6 lead. Then trailing 10-8, a couple of Espejo kills and two Pratt attack errors gave Hutch a 12-10 lead with a 4-0 run. Pratt scored three run a row and the lead change hands three times over the next 10 rallies. An Espejo kill gave hutch a 15-14 lead, but the Beavers had another 3-0 run to take the lead. From that point, the Dragons ever regained the lead. Trailing 21-18, a Pratt service error, Espejo kill and Beaver attack error tied the set at 21. Pratt scored the next two points for a 23-21 lead. A Lettries/Armbrust double block made it 23-22, but a service error gave Pratt a set point. The Dragons dropped a 25-23 decision to extend the match.
Set 4: Tied at 4-all, Thorne delivered a huge kill on a quick to the middle and a service ace to spark a 5-0 run. Armbrust's kill gave hutch a 10-4 lead. Leading 14-7, the Dragons reeled off six in a row. Bautista had two aces in the run. Her second ace boosted the Hutch lead to 20-7. At 23-10, Thorne had a kill and Lettries and Armbrust ended the match with a double block in a 25-10 fourth-set victory.
