BLUE DRAGONS COMPLETE SERES SWEEP OF ROSE STATE

MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma – The No. 23-ranked Hutchinson Community College baseball team earned its second-straight 5-0 start to a season and completed a three-game series sweep of the Rose State Raiders on Saturday.
Led by Taber Stokes' two hits and Anthony Mazza's two RBIs, the Blue Dragons defeated the Raiders 6-3 on Saturday morning to sweep the Raiders in a series for the second time in the last five seasons. Hutchinson won Games 1 and 2 on Friday with victories of 4-1 and 18-4 on Friday.
The Blue Dragons start a season 5-0 for the 11th time in program history. Hutchinson is scheduled to play Highland on Friday and Des Moines Area on Sunday at Hobart-Detter Field.
For the series, the Blue Dragons outscored Rose State 28-8 and out-hit the Raiders 36-20. The Dragons racked up a combined 30 strikeouts in the three-game series.
On Saturday, the Blue Dragons trailed 1-0 after three innings and rallied for six runs over their next four innings to take control.
The Dragons tied and took the lead in the fourth inning. A.J. Mustow scored on a bunt single by Nick Glantz and a Raider throwing error. The Dragons took a 2-1 lead on a two-out RBI single by Scotty Fegen to score Glantz.
Glantz's sacrifice fly in the fifth scored Glantz for a 3-1 lead. Anthony Mazza delivered a two-run double to score Leo Griffin and Cael Hamrick for a 5-1 lead. Griffin scored on a double steal in the Trent Black in the seventh inning for a 6-1 lead.
The Dragons had eight hits in Game 3. Stokes went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored. Quinn Maher was 2 for 6 with a pair of singles.
The Blue Dragons stole 10 of 11 bases in the game, which tied for third-most stolen bases in Hutchinson single-game history. Leo Griffin was 4 of 4 in steals, which ties for the third-most individual stolen bases in Hutchinson single-game history.
Sophomore Reece Usselman (1-0) pitched the fifth inning to earn his first win as a Blue Dragons. He had one strikeout with two walks.
Starting pitcher Jake Wolcott allowed two hits and one earned run with two strikeouts in four innings pitched. Seth Ainsworth worked two innings with two hits and three walks, but no runs allowed with two strikeouts. Colin Flores pitched the final two innings. He had two strikeouts wit three hits, two runs and a walk.
GAME NOTES – Anthony Mazza went 7 of 11 with three doubles and six RBIs in the series. … Nick Glantz, Quinn Maher and C.J. Reid had five hits each in the series. … Seven of the Blue Dragons' Top 10 single-game stolen base games have come in the Brock Nehls' era.
