Rushing for a nation-high 179 yards on opening weekend of the 2024 NJCAA Football season, Hutchinson Community College sophomore running back Waymond Jordan Jr. was named the Week 1 KJCCC Offensive Player of the week on Tuesday.
The sophomore running back from Pensacola, Florida, rushed for a career-high 179 yards and two touchdowns in No. 3-ranked Hutchinson's 42-10 season-opening victory over New Mexico Military on Thursday in the first NJCAA Football ESPN+ Game of the Week.
Averaging 12.8 yards per carry, Jordan needed just 14 carries to reach his career-high total. He had touchdown runs of 26 and 54 yards. Jordan rushed for all 75 yards on a two-play scoring drive to start the second half on runs of 21 and 54 yards.
Now No. 2 in the NJCAA Rankings, the Blue Dragons travel to No. 1 Iowa Western on Saturday in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
