Connor Lierz - Blue Dragon Football

Bio

Former Blue Dragon player Conner Lierz is in his third season on the Hutchinson Community College football coaching staff in 2025.

Lierz changes assignments for 2026 as he will serve as the Offensive Line coach and become the Strength and Conditioning coordinator. His previous two seasons, Lierz was Tight Ends coach and as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.

Over the first two seasons of Lierz being on staff, the Blue Dragons have amassed a 22-2 record and two appearances in the NJCAA National Championship game.

The Blue Dragons earned a national championship ring in 2024 as Hutchinson went 11-1, tied for the Jayhawk Conference championship, defeated Georgia Military, 63-21, in the NJCAA National semifinals and rallying to defeat Iowa Western 28-23 in the NJCAA National Championship game.

Year No. 2 has seen a continuation of the success at the tight end position from 2024. Redshirt freshman Cole Coonrod was named an all-Jayhawk Conference performer as the Blue Dragons were the highest scoring team in the nation at 40.5 points per game entering the national championship game. The Blue Dragons captured the 2025 Jayhawk Conference championship and defeated Northwest Mississippi in the national semifinals at Gowans Stadium before playing in the championship game in Canyon, Texas.

Lierz, an in-state product from Manhattan, played on the offensive line for the Blue Dragons in 2018 and 2019. He was a 2019 all-conference honorable mention selection for the No. 3-ranked Blue Dragons.

After Hutchinson, Lierz moved onto Emporia State University. At ESU, Lierz was a two-year starter and two-year all-MIAA performer – first team in 2022 and second team in 2021). Lierz was nominated for the 2024 Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year Award.

In the summer of 2025, Lierz was married to the former Orianna Clements.
