Former Blue Dragon all-conference tight end Tyce Hoover joins the Blue Dragons coaching staff for the 2026 season as the Tight Ends coach.

Hoover, a native of Manhattan, Kansas, comes to Hutchinson after serving one season as a graduate assistant at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri.

In his one season with the Bearcats in 2025, Hoover coached the tight ends. The Bearcats posted a 9-3 overall record, won the MIAA championship with an 8-1 record and made an NCAA Division II National Playoff appearance. Two of the tight ends Hoover mentored were honorable mention all-MIAA selections.

In his one season playing for the Blue Dragons in 2022, Hoover played in 12 games as a tight end. He had two receptions for 47 yards, but was a tremendous blocking tight end for an offense that averaged 37.2 points and 410.4 yards per game. Hoover was a KJCCC all-conference selection at tight end.

The 2022 Blue Dragons won the Jayhawk Conference championship and were NJCAA National runner-up.

Following Hutchinson, Hoover went to NCAA Division II and MIAA powerhouse Northwest Missouri State for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Over those two campaigns, Hoover caught 11 passes for 54 yards and a touchdown in 22 games played for the Bearcats. Hoover also earned a spot on the MIAA Honor Roll.

Before coming to Hutchinson, Hoover started his collegiate career at Butler Community College. In two seasons with the Grizzlies, Hoover played in sixteen games and had six receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown. He earned all-KJCCC honors as a tight end in 2021.

Hoover graduated from Manhattan High School in 2020, from Hutchinson Community College with his Associate’s Degree in 2020 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Northwest Missouri State in 2024.
