KIBET IS KJCCC CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK

Defending NJCAA national cross country champion Andrew Kibet was named the Jayhawk Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week after a strong showing at the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin, MO.

Kibet finished fourth in the Stampede's University Division on Saturday – the field was all NCAA Division I and Division II runners. The sophomore from Kenya posted an 8,000-meter time of 24:33.92 seconds.

Kibet and teammate Sylvestre Kibarar finished 4-5 individually to help the Blue Dragons to a fourth-place finish in the 30-team field.

This is the first time in 2019 the KJCCC has honored a Blue Dragon for weekly honors. Last season, Kibet was a multi-winner of the award and twice named the USTFCCCA National Runner of the Week.
