HUTCHCC WOMEN PICKED TO REPEAT AS KJCCC CHAMPS IN 2025

Coming off the program's first NJCAA national championship in its history, the Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team is the preseason pick to repeat as KJCCC Division I champion in 2024-25.
The 24-25 KJCCC Preseason Coaches' Poll was released on Friday. The Blue Dragons, Dodge City, Barton, Garden City and Butler were the top 5 picks in what should be a very competitive league season, which opens on Friday, November 1 at Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa.
Starting his 18th season on the Hutchinson bench, head coach John Ontjes has four players returning from last year's national championship team that went 37-0 that ran the table in the KJCCC, defeated Butler in the Region 6 championship game and toppled Northwest Florida State 88-80 in overtime in the national championship game in Casper, Wyoming.
All-conference, All-Region 6 and NJCAA All-Tournament performer Hailey Jackson is the lone full-time starter back for the new season. Also returning is guard Kahlen Norris, guard Jada Pleasant and forward Madi Denison are back this season.
This is the 16th time in 18 seasons under head coach John Ontjes that the Blue Dragon women were picked either first or second in the KJCCC preseason coaches' poll.
After the Blue Dragons open on the road at NOC-Tonkawa on November 1, they will play Neosho County for their home opener on Tuesday, November 5 at the Sports Arena.
The Blue Dragons will have one home scrimmage, which will be on Thursday, October 24 against Tabor College at the Sports Arena.
