Six different Hutchinson Community College players scored goals and the Blue Dragons stayed right in the thick of the Jayhawk West title chase on Saturday night at the Salthawk Sports Complex.

Hutchinson completed the season sweep of Dodge City and won its 20th-consecutive game over the Conquistadors with a 6-0 victory.

The Blue Dragons won their fourth game in a row and improve to 11-2 overall and 9-1 in the Jayhawk West. Hutchinson heads into the final week of the regular season with a road trip to Pratt on Wednesday and potentially a battle for the Jayhawk West title against Cloud County next Saturday at the Salthawk Sports Complex.

As has been the case with the Blue Dragons over their winning streak, they dominated possession once again, outshooting the Conquistadors 26-4.

Sophomores Naomi Waithira and Syeria Matthias and freshman Samantha Vaughn each recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Blue Dragons.

The Blue Dragons scored five first-half goals, starting with Waithira's nifty goal on a move down the middle from a Vaughn feed just 3:35 into the game. Waithira was also given the secondary assist on Vaughn's goal in the 87th minute. She now has 29 career assists, which moves her into a fourth-place tie on Hutchinson's career assist list with Chelsea Myers. Waithira has 15 assists for the season and is tied for sixth on the single-season assist list with Myers, Alicia Robinson, Pearl Slattery and Madison Joyce.

Esther Karhayu scored Hutch's second goal of the game at the 17:10 mark of the first half. Chavelle Henry connected on a penalty kick in the 33rd minute.

Mathias scored a goal for the second-straight game with an unassisted goal in the 35th minute. Cheyenne Busker then bent a corner kick into the goal in the 39th minute for a 5-0 lead.

Hutchinson out-shot Dodge City 16-3 in the opening half.

Vaughn scored the only goal of the second half. That goal was Vaughn's team-high 14th of the season, which ties her for 11th on the Blue Dragon freshman goals list.

Blue Dragon goalkeeper Chiara Soergel (11-2) posted her 11th shutout of the season, making three saves in the contest. Now with 11 wins, Soergel is eighth on the Blue Dragon single-season goalkeeper wins' list.

The Blue Dragons are now 21-1 all-time against Dodge City.
